Promise 2 Purpose

The partnership between KISD and Lone Star Collge Tomball is made for students who want to pursue their passion for the nursing career. This program fast-tracks a career in nursing and has been recognized by the Texas State Board of Nursing as the first of its kind and an example for future nursing pathways.
This Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway for KISD students is designed for them to earn an Associate of Arts while earning their High School Diploma simultaneously. These students must attend Klein High School and go to the Lone Star Tomball campus full time their senior year. Clinical rotations and labs will begin the student's junior year of high school.

Clinical Experience

Junior Year: Students gain work-based experience in rotations at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, KISD elementary school clinics, and local assisted living facilities.
Senior Year: Students gain work-based experience with LSC staff in the lab and 6 hour weekly clinical rotations in various hospitals. Performs direct patient care with LSC staff.

  • Earn Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) industry certification and Associates of Arts from Lone Star College-Tomball prior to high school graduation
  • Earn Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) certification 1 year after high school graduation​
  • ​Seamlessly transfer college credits for completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in as little as 1 year though multiple colleges and universities (admission requirements)

College Credits

  • Graduate High School under the Distinguished Plan
  • Receive college credits earned during the LVN program toward the completion of the Registered Nursing program (admission requirements)​
  • Earn Endorsements in Public Service, Arts and Humanities and Multidisciplinary Advanced
  • Earn Performance Acknowledgements for dual credit course completion and attainment of industry certifications​
